The faded symbol to the right is a Chinese character, pronounced sǐ, meaning "die" or "dead." To create the faded effect, I first outlined and lightly shaded the entire character normally (I've done Chinese calligraphy before, which helped here), and then rolled an eraser over it.

I don't actually play Tales of Symphonia, but I saw this quote somewhere and decided to make a Words Envisioned out of it because it kind of relates to Cards of Legend (I wrote the Hero and Villain stories with this basic idea in mind), but more importantly it's a very true statement that reflects the cyclic nature of war and hatred. 

I've been doing a lot of stuff on hatred now, haven't I? Maybe I should do something on love or optimism. (That was not supposed to be a reference, promise.) I'm open to requests/suggestions, if anyone has a favorite quote or something
